Plugins & Skills

Install specsmd flows as Agent Skills plugins in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini, Zed, and more

specsmd flows are available as Agent Skills plugins — the native skills format read by modern AI coding tools. One install gives you the flow’s phase skills (which the model engages automatically) and its verb commands (which you invoke by name), with no per-tool file copying.

Plugin Contents
specsmd-core Session bootstrap, specsmd-status navigator, always-on principles. Install with any flow.
specsmd-aidlc AI-DLC: inceptionconstructionoperations + all verb skills (intent-create, bolt-start, …)
specsmd-fire FIRE: fire entry skill + planner/builder verbs with autonomy modes
specsmd-ideation Ideation: ideation + spark / flame / forge
specsmd-simple Simple: simple-spec + spec-requirements / spec-design / spec-tasks / spec-execute

Claude Code

/plugin marketplace add fabriqaai/specs.md
/plugin install specsmd-core@specsmd
/plugin install specsmd-aidlc@specsmd

Swap specsmd-aidlc for specsmd-fire, specsmd-ideation, or specsmd-simple to install a different flow.

Codex CLI

codex plugin marketplace add fabriqaai/specs.md

Any tool that reads .agents/skills/

Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, Zed, OpenCode, Goose, Amp, Windsurf, Cline, Factory, and Kilo Code all read the neutral .agents/skills/ project location. Install into it with one command:

npx specsmd@latest skills aidlc # or: fire, ideation, simple, --all

This copies the core + flow skills into <project>/.agents/skills/, adds a .claude/skills symlink for Claude Code, and writes the specsmd principles into your project’s AGENTS.md (creating or appending, never overwriting your content).

How skills relate to the classic installer

npx specsmd install (the classic per-tool installer) keeps working unchanged. Both channels drive the same project artifacts — memory-bank/ for AI-DLC, .specs-fire/ for FIRE — so a project started with one continues seamlessly with the other, and the dashboard and VS Code extension work with both.

Format compatibility

  • Skills follow the Agent Skills specification (SKILL.md + frontmatter, references/, scripts/).
  • Each plugin’s root plugin.json conforms to the vendor-neutral Agent Plugins spec v1.0.0.
  • Verb skills use the disable-model-invocation extension (recognized by Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot) plus a per-skill agents/openai.yaml policy for Codex, so commands never crowd the model’s context.
